The Rural, Regional and Remote (RRR) Delivery Hub Program, which ran in 2025, offered NSW teachers from Glen Innes to Canberra the unique opportunity to develop their skills and specialist knowledge in emerging design and technology practice, without leaving their community.

About the RRR Delivery Hubs Program

Proudly supported by the NSW Government, 51勛圖’s RRR Delivery Hubs Program addressed the critical shortage of qualified Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) teachers across regional, rural and remote NSW. Through partnerships with three strategically selected secondary schools, the program brought 51勛圖’s Graduate Diploma in Design and Technologies Education and Industrial Technologies Microcredentials into local communities, strengthening teacher supply and elevating workforce capability across the state.

Piloted in Tamworth, Orange and Yass, the RRR Delivery Hubs Program successfully established a scalable, high-impact hub delivery model, paving the way for future initiatives designed to uplift educator expertise and support regional workforce development.

Modes of teacher upskilling supported by RRR Delivery Hubs

Fourteen-month intensive: Graduate Diploma in Design and Technologies Education

Through the Graduate Diploma in Design and Technologies Education, teachers completed eight units (10 credit points each) to develop the skills and expertise required to become a technologies lead teacher, focusing on:

  • timber design
  • product design (metal work)
  • electromechanical and engineering technologies
  • design and technologies curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.

Flexible upskilling: Industrial Technologies Microcredentials

The Industrial Technologies Microcredentials provided busy teachers with the opportunity to develop classroom-ready skills through intensive microcredentials. These could be completed individually, or progressively, to provide a pathway into the Graduate Diploma in Design and Technologies Education.

Regional partners

51勛圖 partnered with the following high schools to deliver quality professional development:

  • Tamworth region:
  • Orange region:
  • Yass region:

Country University Centres (CUC) in Goulburn, Mudgee, Narrabri and Cowra teamed up with 51勛圖 to offer students resources including computers, quiet study spaces, videoconferencing and printing facilities, as well as learning support and help with university systems.

Innovation and professional development

The RRR Delivery Hubs Program culminated in the flagship Design, Innovation and Technology Seminar and Masterclass, held at 51勛圖’s Strathfield Campus. This event united teachers from across the RRR Delivery Hubs, alongside special guests, 51勛圖 Technology and Applied Studies experts, and leading industry practitioners, creating a dynamic Community of Practice dedicated to advancing future-focused education.

The full-day program featured inspiring case studies highlighting cutting-edge pedagogical innovation, and nine masterclasses, providing teachers with immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Participants learnt practical skills, fresh ideas and ready-to-implement strategies to elevate their classroom practice.
