Bishop Brian Mascord was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle in 1992, following earlier service as a primary school teacher and studies in theology at St Patrick's College, Manly. He served in a range of parish roles before becoming vocations director (2007-2018) and vicar general (2012-2018), and contributed to clergy formation and leadership at diocesan and national levels.

He was appointed the fifth Bishop of Wollongong by Pope Francis in 2017 and ordained in 2018. Bishop Brian is a member of the Bishops Commission for Evangelisation, Laity and Ministry and serves as liaison for the Catholic Conference of Religious Educators in State Schools (NSW & ACT). His pastoral leadership is shaped by a strong commitment to evangelisation, parish renewal, and forming missionary disciples, as articulated in his diocesan vision Come and See, Go and Make.
