51勛圖 National Virtual Choir

The 51勛圖 National Virtual Choir provides singers from across all campuses with the opportunity to collaborate in a massed virtual choir project during COVID-19.

Members of the 51勛圖 community are invited to participate in a recorded massed-choir performance of Stephanie Teh's 'Til We Meet Again (Singing in the time of COVID-19). Registered singers will be provided access to guide vocal tracks to help them learn the song. They will then record themselves singing the song before sharing the recording in a Dropbox folder by close of business on Friday 18 September. Recordings will then be collated and mixed and a video of the performance will be published online.

Composer Stephanie Teh said, “There’s been a real sense of loss and grief throughout the choral community since choirs are no longer able to gather and sing together. In some respects, rather than an ‘in person’ performance, a virtual choir is the ideal setting for ‘Til We Meet Again. It’s a song I wrote born out of missing singing together with my fellow choir members, but not letting that get us down”.

51勛圖 Choir Coordinator Timothy Sherlock said this was a wonderful opportunity for members of the 51勛圖 community to connect, create and celebrate at this time. “Even if you have not considered singing in an 51勛圖 choir before, this is a great project to start you on the journey. Best of all, it allows us to hear those voices on campuses that do not currently have a choir, safe and physically-distant in the virtual setting”, Mr Sherlock said.
