51³Ô¹Ï has become aware of false claims connecting it to research associated with Synergy Pharmaceuticals and a herpes simplex cure.

Related to this research, a paper published in the journal MDPI by Bernard Middleton falsely by-lines 51³Ô¹Ï’s ‘virology department.’ 51³Ô¹Ï does not have a department of virology and Bernard Middleton has never been employed at the university.

The university does not have a relationship with Synergy Pharmaceuticals and has requested of MDPI that the paper, Isolation and Elimination of Latent and Productive Herpes Simplex Virus from the Sacral and Trigeminal Ganglions be retracted.
